Fast Times And Famous Views In Stirling
Fast 10K returns with junior fun runs...
This relates to: Podfather Stirling 10K
The Podfather Stirling 10K returns on Sunday 6 September 2026, marking the 25th running of one of Scotland's best known road races. Organised by Central AC, the event features the headline 10K alongside 2K and 3.5K fun runs for younger runners, creating a family friendly morning of racing in the shadow of some of Scotland's most iconic landmarks.
The traditional course has earned a reputation for producing fast times while offering spectacular views of Stirling Castle, the National Wallace Monument and the Ochil Hills. Although the route attracts runners chasing personal bests, it also welcomes participants of every ability, with the emphasis on achieving your own goals and enjoying the occasion from start to finish.
Race day begins with the junior events at 9.20am before the 10K starts at 10.15am. Pacers covering finish times from 40 to 60 minutes help runners maintain their target pace, while chip timing, a halfway clock, instructor led warm up and free pre and post race massage add to the race day experience. A goody bag awaits every finisher, and entrants can choose between receiving a commemorative race T shirt or having a tree planted in their name.
Support around the course is another feature that sets the event apart. A lone piper welcomes runners near the Wallace Monument, cheerleaders provide encouragement at key points, music keeps the atmosphere lively and family entertainment around the finish area includes bouncy castles and face painting. More than £2,000 in prize money is also on offer across the overall, age group and team competitions, while part of every entry fee is donated to Beatson Cancer Charity.
The junior races provide an opportunity for children to experience organised running in a welcoming environment. The 2K event is open to runners aged five to nine, while the 3.5K race is designed for those aged 10 to 14. Adults are welcome to run alongside younger participants, helping make the morning a memorable experience for families as well as club runners and seasoned competitors.
Whether you're aiming for a personal best, tackling your first 10K or cheering on the next generation in the junior races, the Podfather Stirling 10K offers a memorable day of running in one of Scotland's most historic cities. Fast roads, enthusiastic support and unforgettable views combine to make this a standout event on the Scottish racing calendar.
