A Whole Town Comes Together For Room To Run
Room To Run returns to Huntly this September...
This relates to: Huntly Room To Run
Room To Run returns to Huntly on Saturday 5 September 2026, bringing together runners, families and the local community for one of Aberdeenshire's most colourful sporting celebrations.
Following its tenth anniversary last year, the event returns with the welcome comeback of the Half Marathon after storm damage to the forest forced its cancellation in 2025. Alongside the Half Marathon, runners can choose from the popular 10K, scenic 5K and a full programme of junior races, ensuring there is something for every age and ability.
Every race begins in Huntly's historic town square before passing through the iconic arch of the Simpson Building and heading towards Huntly Castle. The routes then cross the River Deveron and climb Marquis Drive, with the Half Marathon and 10K continuing into the beautiful Bin Forest on a mixture of road and forest trails. The varied terrain, woodland scenery and welcoming atmosphere have helped establish Room To Run as one of the North East's favourite community running events.
The event is much more than a day of racing. Taking place alongside the popular Huntly Hairst Festival, runners and spectators can enjoy more than 60 artisan food, drink and craft stalls in the town centre, creating a festival atmosphere from the first race to the final finisher.
Organised by Huntly Sports Trust, Huntly Travel Hub and Huntly Rinnin Quines and Loons, every entry helps support sports, health and wellbeing projects across the local community. That strong community focus, combined with superb organisation and memorable routes, continues to make Room To Run a highlight of the Scottish running calendar.
Whether you're tackling the returning Half Marathon, chasing a fast 10K or introducing young runners to their first event, Room To Run offers a fantastic day out in the heart of Huntly, where running and community come together in style.
