Trail runners at Brooksie's Bash

Still time to join the party at Brooksie’s Bash

There are a few places remaining in the 10 Miles and the 5K.

There's just over a week to go to Brooksie’s Bash on Sunday 18th July with delightful trails to run on in South Derbyshire. Runners of all ages and abilities are invited to have a crack at 10 Miles or 5K in support of local charity Derbyshire Mind and there is a family-friendly walk too.

The Bash is organised by Peak Running in conjunction with Shelton Striders and designed as an inclusive event with something to suit everyone, from the trail newbie to the experienced off-road runner. All of which takes place in a friendly, welcoming environment at the picturesque Foremarke Hall – an 18th century Georgian mansion that is home to Repton Preparatory School. An ideal location to begin one’s trail running education...

The 10 miler starts and finishes in front of Foremarke Hall. Runners complete a short loop around the grounds then continue in an anti-clockwise direction along a single loop consisting of bridleways, footpaths and small sections of road. The 5K follows some of the course used in the 10 Miles including a short section of road and participants in both races need to look out for tree roots, uneven surfaces and rocks especially if there is rain as these will become slippery underfoot.

There are prizes for the top three men and women and age category winners in the 10 Miles; the 1st male and female in the 5K and spot prizes plus special category awards. Every finisher will receive a race memento.

This event is raising funds for Derbyshire Mind whose services will be needed more than ever as a result of the pandemic.
