35 Years Of Greatness
The Great South Run's 35th anniversary medal says it all...
This year's AJ Bell Great South Run celebrates 35 incredible years and the 2025 medal says it all!
Inspired by the sea, a nod to the event’s coastal home, the 2025 medal (pictured above) has a bold 35 at its heart, marking 35 years of greatness. There are 10 striking lines, representing the 10 miles you’ll conquer on race day. And the reverse has a 3D profile of the area where you will add to the story of this venerable event. If bling is your thing, you'll want to add this one to your collection!
The cancellation of last year's AJ Bell Great South Run due to the effects of Storm Ashley has increased interest in the 35th-anniversary event on Sunday, 19 October 2025, and all the general places for this year are sold out, but there are a limited number of charity places still available. You can browse the list of charities here, but don't delay because the final few charity places will get snapped up fast.
AJ Bell Great South Run is a world-class, mass participation 10-mile race with over 25,000 runners competing every year. Great Run has advised runABC South about a slight change to the start of the race due to sea defence works on Clarence Esplanade, Southsea. Most of the route remains the same, taking in the inspiring history, fresh sea air and far-reaching coastal views that make it such a bucket list event.
Although the flagship Great South Run is fully subscribed, apart from the few remaining charity places, the exciting AJ Bell Great South 5K is still taking entries at £27 – click here for details.
The 5K kicks off the Great South Run weekend at 9:00am on Saturday, 18 October 2025. Expect beautiful views across the Solent, an incredible atmosphere and a fast, flat 5K route. If you’re aiming for a PB, this race will certainly give you a great shot at getting one. It's also ideal for those stepping up from parkrun and dipping a toe in the competition waters!
