Moulton and Martin on fire at Cheddleton Xmas Pudding Race

Outstanding runs by them and several others at this final race in the NSRRA programme.

Saturday’s (26 November) Cheddleton 10K Pudding Run was a feast to be savoured by all whilst raising much needed funds for Cancer Research UK. There were wins for Carl Moulton and Claire Martin and notable age category performances on a memorable day for many.

The Cheddleton 10K is a favourite with the local running community who enjoy the challenging three lap course, local support and a Christmas pudding for every finisher. Youngsters got to sample this event via the 2-Mile Fun Run where they made the most of the single lap, roared on by enthusiastic spectators as they enjoyed their moment in the spotlight.

Then at 2pm it was the turn of the 10K runners - some wearing festive fancy dress - who completed three hilly laps to the applause of waiting crowds. They had perfect conditions for this...

A hard fought contest saw Carl Moulton of Boalloy RC become the winner in 33:51; closely followed by City of Stoke AC’s Ross Connor in 33:57. Connor’s teammate Dean Richardson was third in 34:20.

MV80 Alan Lewis of Trentham RC posted a new course record of 1:02:10.

Talented Shropshire athlete Claire Martin (Telford AC) claimed the women’s title in 39:12. Amanda Kelly of Stoke FIT was second in 41:13 and Jayne Dickens third in 41:46 with the Trentham RC runner also posting a new FV50 course record of 41:46 (beating Chris Kilkenny’s 2005 time of 42:05).

The complete set of results can be found via the runABC Midlands Race Listings page.

Trophies, prizes and puddings appreciated by the recipients as the curtain came down on another successful year for NSRRA. In the words of NSRRA Chairman Ken Rushton: “What a fantastic end to the season at the Cheddleton 10K Pudding Run. This was the first time Cheddleton has been part of the NSRRA programme and will definitely be back in 2023”.

Clifton Bradeley’s time of 30:42, set in 1987, still stands... See you all next year.
