Fast And Friendly Burton 10K Back For 2026
A summer 10K with local character...
The Burton 10K returns on Sunday 9 August 2026, bringing another morning of competitive road racing and community spirit to Burton upon Trent.
Organised by Hatton Darts Running Club, the UKA measured race has become a popular fixture in the Midlands running calendar, attracting runners looking for a well organised summer 10K with a welcoming atmosphere. The event is limited to 400 entries, helping maintain the friendly feel that has become one of its trademarks.
Starting close to Shobnall Leisure Complex, runners head out onto a predominantly road based route through the Staffordshire countryside. The course offers a mixture of open stretches and quieter roads, providing opportunities for those chasing fast times while remaining accessible to runners of all abilities.
Competition is expected throughout the field, with prizes awarded to the top three male and female finishers, leading under 25 runners and a range of veteran age categories. There are also bonuses on offer for anyone capable of breaking the men's or women's course records.
While there is always strong racing at the front, the Burton 10K is equally popular among club runners, first time 10K participants and those building towards autumn race targets. With no formal cut off time and plenty of support from volunteers and marshals, the event maintains an inclusive atmosphere from start to finish.
Every finisher will receive a commemorative race memento, adding to the sense of achievement after completing the Staffordshire course. Combined with its established reputation, local club backing and midsummer timing, the Burton 10K continues to offer an appealing blend of competitive racing and community spirit.
For runners seeking a classic Midlands road race with strong local support and a welcoming feel, the Burton 10K remains a popular choice.
