challenging yet world beating at the Ironbridge Half Marathon

March on over for the Ironbridge Half

The historic half marathon route includes the UNESCO World Heritage Ironbridge Gorge.

If you’ve run 10 milers but aren’t ready to tackle a marathon as of yet then here is a race to ‘bridge’ that gap. Test yourself on an undulating 13.1 mile course at the Ironbridge Half Marathon this spring (26 March) and be rewarded with quality post-event goodies.

The Denso Ironbridge Half Marathon is organised by Telford Harriers and always attracts a good number of runners who enjoy the course (especially the Ironbridge), the support and the technical t-shirt.

It starts and finishes at Telford Town Park - popular with Saturday morning parkrunners and walkers – and takes participants on a tour of the area complete with stunning views of the Ironbridge Gorge. The terrain is a mix of hard packed trails, road and, more than likely, mud! There is a steep hill at around 9 miles and four water stations to top up fluid levels and keep everything moving to the end.

There is plenty to see: Blists Hill Museum, Coalport China Museum, Jackfield Tile Museum and the famous bridge and the Ironbridge Gorge Museum: From Telford Town Park to Rough Park and the Silkin Way.

Participants can expect a challenging, single loop run in a picturesque area with shouts of encouragement from marshals and locals. Then it’s a sprint over the finish line in the Town Park where they'll pick up their t-shirt, medal, goody bag and water.

This is a ‘must do’ half marathon for any runner’s diary. For more information and race registration, visit the Ironbridge Half Marathon website.
