Celebrate King Charles' coronation with a run round Kirkstall Abbey...

Maybe you are something of a Royalist, or maybe it's a case of any excuse for a party and you're 'in'! Either way, you can choose to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III this May with a canter and a slice of cake by taking part in It's Grim Up North Running's aptly named - Coronation Canter.

Taking place on 8 May in Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds, as with many of the events offered by this race organiser there will be a variety of distances to choose from and in this case you can opt for a 1 Mile Fun Run, 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon or Ultra 32 Miler.

The route will take two different approaches, for longer distances offering a full range of trail, woodland and tow path, and for shorter distances a more simplified out and back. Organisers say: "Whilst the route is challenging, the generous cut off means it is well within everyone's capability."

All participants will receive a bespoke coronation themed medal, and a goody bag and organisers have said that they: "will even try to rustle up a crown for those making first place in each distance!" Not only that, it wouldn't be a proper coronation party without some delicious food - and that is just what is on offer with a fabulous afternoon tea promised at the finish line.
