Ready for a sweet run at the Bournville Leafy 10K

Fall in for the Bournville Leafy 10K

Perfect autumn race, popular with local clubs.

Two days to go to the Bournville Leafy 10K (Sunday18 September) where runners hope for the sweet taste of success on the two lap, multi-terrain course. Anyone with a sweet tooth will be in seventh heaven when they see the goody bags...

The race starts at 10am on Rowheath Playing Fields opposite the Pavilion. This was built by the Cadbury Family in 1924 for their workers and the health and fitness benefits have continued up to the present day. Bournville Harriers are based there and known for their well organised event that always attracts a good turnout from the local running community.

One of the reasons for its popularity is the course which takes you on a tour of the parks and streets in south west Birmingham. Expect a mixture of terrain from grass to woodland, paths and roads plus a few hills, and plenty of marshals to keep everyone going in the right direction. Their encouragement will continue on your second time around and through the finish on the Playing Fields.

There are a tasty set of prizes – top three men and women, winners in the veteran male categories and veteran female categories and the most represented running club. The presentation will take place shortly after the last runner has crossed the line.

All finishers receive a delightful leaf medal along with the scrumptious goody bag and there are refreshments including homemade cakes to indulge in. Donations in support of Headway Birmingham and Solihull are welcome.

There is still time to be part of this race but don’t leave it too long. Sign up via the Entry Central link on the Bournville Harriers website.
