We Hail The Ales And Trails

Something good is brewing in Buckinghamshire...

Andy Macaskill, who runs Racing Line Running of Mortimer, is excited to announce a new addition to the Ales and Trails series of races (much delayed after initial plans pre-COVID) that take place from craft breweries in scenic locations.

The Rebellion 10K, on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May 2026, is a trail run with a twist. The event is hosted at Riverwoods by Marlow Rugby Club, in partnership with Marlow's very own Rebellion Brewery.

The rugby club location provides direct access to the River Thames and a superb trail running course. You'll run on local trails, through woodland, and along the Thames towpath on an undulating route.

There is a two-hour cut-off time limit, making this race suitable for all abilities and a brilliant introduction to trail running. However, given the nature of the route, it's not buggy or dog-friendly.

Rebellion Brewery takes over when you reach the finish line. In true Ales & Trails style, runners are awarded an awesome medal, a Rebellion 10K pint cup, and a lovely cold beer to fill it with! Alcoholic or non-alcoholic options are available and included within your entry.

The race details indicate 75% off-road and an elevation gain of 79m, so this is proper trail running. There is a sharp climb at 3K-4K, downhill to 6K, and a pretty flat run alongside the River Thames to the finish.

Course features include Marlow Lock, Marlow Bridge, Quarry Wood, Winter Hill National Trust viewpoint, Cock Marsh, Upper Thames Sailing Club, and the meandering River Thames.
