Peak District Birthday Bash

Breathtaking Birthday Bash

This April event offers a fantastic mix of natural beauty, physical challenge and community spirit...

The Peak District Birthday Bash is back for 2025, offering runners the chance to take on a breathtaking challenge through one of Britain’s most iconic landscapes. Taking place on 12 April, this event celebrates the history and beauty of the UK’s first national park while raising funds for the Peak District National Park Foundation.

Now in its fourth year, the Birthday Bash was originally launched in 2022 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Peak District becoming the UK’s first national park. The event proved so popular that it has now become a permanent fixture, attracting participants eager to take on the challenge of exploring the park’s stunning scenery.

Starting in the picturesque village of Castleton, nestled in the Hope Valley at the foot of Peveril Castle, competitors can choose between two distances: the full 70K course or the half-distance 35K route. Both promise an unforgettable experience with runners tackling some of the most breathtaking trails in the central Peak District.

Organisers say: "With 2,600 metres of elevation gain on the full route, this race is no easy feat, but the sweeping views and rugged beauty make every climb worth it. Even the shorter route, with 1,300 metres of ascent, offers a formidable challenge."

Beyond the physical challenge, the Birthday Bash is about celebrating the Peak District and supporting its conservation. By taking part, runners and hikers contribute to vital projects that protect and enhance this stunning landscape for future generations.
