NordicTrack Home Treadmill

Three reasons the treadmill is your fitness saviour

Winter is just round the corner with its certain plummet in temperatures. What was once a joyous task is fast becoming an uphill struggle. We’re talking about exercise, of course. The nights are drawing in and the morning chill is keeping us wrapped up in our duvets instead of hitting the gym or going out for a run in the fresh air.

NordicTrack has the answer to this dilemma, the treadmill is soon to be your fitness saviour, keeping you on track even when you don’t feel like leaving the house. Read on for NordicTrack’s three reasons to don your running shoes and continue making gains.

Time Saviour

It goes without saying that having a treadmill in your home will save you time. No more wasted time travelling to the gym. The way you workout can also save you more time and a treadmill can be a fantastic tool for working out efficiently within a limited timeframe.

Introducing HIIT, that’s High Intensity Interval Training - exercising ferociously for short bursts resting in between sets. The work-to-rest ratio can vary from 1:1 (for example, 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off) to 1:4 or more, and the rounds can be just a few or 15 or more. It has become a popular way for the time poor to burn optimal fat quickly. You need as little as 15 minutes to have an effective HIIT workout. Just make sure you bring everything you’ve got to each set of sprints!

Get Your Pump On

Let’s be honest, cardio is hard that’s why we often avoid it at all costs! However, heart health is an essential part of our overall fitness and health. Raising your heart rate 3-5 times per week can strengthen your heart and blood vessels, improve the flow of oxygen around your body, and lower your blood pressure and cholesterol.

As a general rule you can determine your optimal fat-burning range, 60% to 70% of your max heart rate. Running on a treadmill is an efficient way of getting your heart pumping for extended periods. Aim to hit this optimal heart rate at least three times per week and reap the benefits of a fit body and healthy heart and mind.

Slight Incline

To all of those who’ll tell you that running on a treadmill is not as good for you as running outdoors, NordicTrack has a solution to prove the doubters wrong! To emulate the difficulty level of running outdoors on different terrains and inclines, simply set your treadmill to an incline of 1. To increase the difficulty choose a setting such as ‘rolling hills’ to automatically increase and decrease the incline of the treadmill during your run.

Check out the NordicTrack Incline Series, featuring treadmills with an incline of up to 40%, giving you the flexibility to train muscles other treadmill’s simply can’t reach. Using the incline function every time you step on your treadmill ensures you’re getting the most out of your workout.

The treadmill is your fitness saviour during the colder months. Jump out of bed for an energising HIIT session before work, take a long Sunday morning jog without stepping out in the rain, and improve your overall fitness by taking advantage of the different setting.
