New Routes For Devilla Races

New routes have been announced for the 2026 Devilla Forest 15K and 5K Trail Races...

Carnegie Harriers have confirmed that the Devilla Forest 15K and 5K Trail Races will return in 2026 (8 February), with both events featuring brand new routes designed to make greater use of the forest’s smaller paths and improve running conditions underfoot.

The majority of each course sits within the scenic Devilla Forest, offering sheltered woodland, open stretches and a rewarding mix of terrain. As in previous years, a donation from the event will be made to the Ochils Mountain Rescue Team, who provide first aid cover on race day.

The 15K route has been completely redesigned for 2026. It begins in the new start and finish area before guiding runners past Tulliallan Castle in the Police College grounds and into the forest. The course then follows a largely flat clockwise loop that includes forest roads, narrower trails and varied surfaces. After passing Moor Loch, runners head towards Peppermill Dam, descend to the Keir Burn and navigate the well known boggy section. The route then loops around Keir Dam, joins part of the Red Squirrel Trail and returns through the forest to finish back in the college grounds.

The revised 5K route offers a flatter out and back experience. After leaving the college grounds, runners turn into the forest and follow the north side of Moor Loch before entering a more enclosed section of woodland. At the halfway turnaround, the route retraces its steps back to the finish. Aside from a brief stretch of tarmac within the college, the entire course runs on forest roads.

Runners and spectators will also be able to make use of the Copper Lounge in the Recreation Block, which will be serving hot and cold drinks along with a range of snacks. Organsers say: "The 2026 edition promises improved routes, familiar forest scenery and a welcoming atmosphere for both new and returning participants."
