Cannock Chase Trail Challenge

Trail runners head to Cannock Chase for a full day of off road racing...

Trail runners are set for a true off road adventure as the Merrell Cannock Chase Challenge returns on Saturday 16 May 2026 in the heart of Staffordshire.

Based at Tackeroo Campsite near Rugeley, the event offers a range of distances including a marathon, half marathon and 10K, all set within the stunning Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The routes are 100 percent off road, taking runners along twisting singletrack, forest trails and fire roads that go well beyond the usual paths, creating a true trail running experience.

The half marathon stands out as a single lap course, while the full marathon doubles the challenge with two laps of the same demanding terrain, making it one of the tougher yet most rewarding trail events in the region.

With rolling climbs, technical sections and scenic woodland throughout, the event is designed to test experienced runners while remaining accessible to those looking to take on their first trail challenge.

The event also delivers a strong community atmosphere, with an event village, free parking, spectator friendly course layout and support throughout the day helping to create a welcoming environment for runners and supporters alike.

Whether you are stepping up to a longer distance or simply looking to explore trail running in one of England’s most scenic locations, the Cannock Chase Challenge offers a memorable and rewarding day out on the trails.
