Carsington 7 Plus 2026 Story

Around The Water At Carsington

Popular 7.5 mile race returns to Carsington Water this May...

One of the Midlands’ most scenic races returns this spring as the Carsington 7+ takes place on Sunday 10 May 2026 around the stunning Carsington Water in Derbyshire.

Starting and finishing near the visitor centre, the race takes runners on a full 7.5 mile clockwise circuit of the reservoir, offering wide open views across the water and the surrounding countryside.

The route follows a mix of cycle paths and well maintained trails, creating a course that is accessible for a wide range of abilities while still providing a rewarding challenge with gentle undulations along the way.

With a welcoming atmosphere and a field that includes both experienced runners and those newer to the distance, Carsington has become a firm favourite on the regional calendar. The event is open to runners aged 16 and over and continues to attract participants from across the Midlands and beyond.

The race also forms part of the popular Run Derby Series, giving runners the opportunity to earn points across a number of local events and adding an extra competitive edge for those taking part in the wider series.

Entries are limited and close shortly before race day or when capacity is reached, with strong demand expected once again for this popular event.

Whether you are chasing a strong time or simply looking to enjoy a run in a unique setting, Carsington offers a memorable day out on one of the region’s most distinctive courses.
