Ludlow10 Back with New Race
A half marathon will be added to this year's Ludlow10 race day...
Imagine running through the beautiful Shropshire countryside in and around Ludlow, on a glorious summer’s morning, to the applause and cheers of your friends and family. Well, the Ludlow10 is a running event that brings just such a 'vibe' to the historic market town each summer and it returns this year on 14 July.
Speaking about their event, organisers say: "For 2024, we are shaking things up, changing the day, time and routes, as well as introducing a half marathon distance, which will complement the traditional 10K and 5K distances.
"We are hoping to attract a greater diversity of athlete ability, making this event as inclusive as possible. All distances will start and finish at Ludlow Rugby Club giving you plenty of opportunity to then head into town, and enjoy the festivities of the Green Festival."
Lying close to the border with Wales, the 11th century town contains more than 500 listed buildings from the Norman period onwards including the Buttercross, Ludlow Castle, St Laurence’s Church and Ludlow College which is the venue for the start/finish of the race.
All routes are on quiet lanes and each race will have off road sections, including the Whitcliffe Common area. Here you can expect undulating ground combined with some interesting climbs and descents, in particular the challenging ascent of the Donkey Steps, an uphill section to rival the infamous Lactic Ladder.
