The Race With A Hint of Magic
This 10 mile race blends English charm and just a touch of magic...
After a successful debut in 2024, the Denstone 10 is back on 24 August and looks set to build on its strong foundations. With its fast, mostly flat course and scenic surroundings, this multi-terrain 10-mile race through the Staffordshire countryside is a fantastic late summer race option.
Starting from the atmospheric Denstone College - a venue often compared to a Harry Potter set - the route winds through Denstone village before joining the picturesque Churnet Valley Way. Runners will enjoy peaceful woodland paths and may even hear the distant roar of rollercoasters from nearby Alton Towers as they pass through the valley.
The out-and-back course is largely flat with just one hill near the finish, making it ideal for those chasing a new personal best or preparing for autumn half marathons like the Potters ’Arf or the Great North Run.
Last year’s inaugural race saw 75 runners take part. John White won in 1:02:05 with Rebecca Harrison first female in 1:07:54. For 2025, the race is part of the NSRRA calendar and is expected to grow in popularity.
All finishers will receive a bespoke coaster medal, with the option to purchase a race T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers overall, age group winners and local residents.
