New parkrun For Herefordshire
New parkrun looks set to become a new favourite for trail lovers seeking a beautiful, challenging route in the heart of Herefordshire...
We bring news of another brand new parkrun in the Midlands area - this time for Herefordshire, with Queenswood Country Park parkrun already proving popular after two well-attended events. The scenic trail run at Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum on Dinmore Hill near Leominster welcomed 128 finishers for its inaugural outing on 29 November, followed by 135 participants at its second event at the weekend (6 December).
The course offers a woodland experience, set entirely on trail paths and weaving through the arboretum on a two-lap route. Runners start and finish close to the main car park and visitor centre, taking on light gravel, patchy grass and twisting forest sections. Although much of the course is relatively flat, each lap features a steep climb on loose gravel near the end, adding a memorable challenge.
The atmosphere has already made an impression on early participants. Inaugural runner Natalie Carr shared her excitement on social media, describing it as an amazing morning and praising the volunteers and marshals. She added that the course was fantastic and that she is already looking forward to returning for more muddy fun.
After each event, participants gather for a post-parkrun coffee at the Queenswood Café, continuing the friendly social spirit of parkrun mornings. Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum is the most visited nature reserve managed by Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and is considered the green heart of the county. With its nationally important arboretum and acres of ancient woodland designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest, the venue offers a stunning natural backdrop for runners of all ages.
