Frank’s Farm parkrun

New parkrun For Cambridgeshire

Get down to the farm for Cambridgeshire's latest parkrun...

Cambridgeshire has welcomed a brand new addition to its parkrun community with the launch of Frank’s Farm parkrun in Elsworth. The inaugural event took place on Saturday (15 November), with 212 participants joining the fun!

Run Director Philip opened the morning with the first ever briefing, thanking landowner Anthony for both the use of the farm and the funding that helped bring the event to life. Anthony also shared his vision for the site, describing Frank’s Farm as a place that aims to produce healthy food for healthy people.

The 5K course features a single anti clockwise loop with a central out and back section. It takes runners across an interesting mix of gravel paths, concrete farm tracks and trail paths. The run begins with a steady uphill climb before joining the out and back stretch, which allows plenty of opportunities for participants to cheer one another on. The final section circles the perimeter of the field before returning to the finish near the main car park.

Participant Caroline Crane commented: "On a clear day the views will be quite something, but today’s misty fog gave the winter trees a more ethereal look." The peaceful setting is complemented by the converted farm buildings, which house a farm shop selling seasonal local produce and the on site Frank’s Cafe and Bistro, where runners gather each week for a post parkrun coffee.

The debut event was supported by 31 volunteers and representatives from 21 running clubs. With its scenic rural setting and warm community feel, Frank’s Farm is set to become a popular new Saturday morning destination for Cambridgeshire parkrunners.
