Wolverhampton Half Marathon & 10K 2026

Know What To Expect On Race Day

Everything you need to know before tackling the Wolverhampton Half Marathon or 10K on race day...

Race day is almost here, and whether you're taking on the Wolverhampton Half Marathon or the 10K, a little preparation can make all the difference. From arriving at the start line feeling relaxed to pacing yourself through the city streets, knowing what to expect will help you get the most from one of the West Midlands' biggest closed road running events.

Both races start and finish on North Street beside the Civic Halls, placing runners right in the heart of Wolverhampton from the very beginning. Registration, bag drop and race facilities open well before the start, so arriving in plenty of time gives you the chance to collect your number, warm up properly and soak up the pre race atmosphere.

Once the race gets underway, enjoy the rare opportunity to run on traffic free roads through Wolverhampton. The route combines lively city centre streets with greener surroundings, taking in landmarks including Molineux Stadium, St Peter's Church, Wolverhampton Art Gallery, West Park, Compton Park and Tettenhall. It's a course that offers plenty to enjoy while remaining fast enough for runners chasing a personal best.

If you're aiming for a target time, remember that the excitement of the opening miles can make it easy to set off too quickly. Settle into a comfortable rhythm, make good use of the water stations positioned around the course and let the crowds carry you through the later stages rather than the opening ones.

As you return towards the finish beside the Civic Halls, the atmosphere builds with supporters cheering runners home. Every finisher receives a medal, commemorative t-shirt and goody bag, providing a fitting reward after crossing the line.

Whether you're making your Half Marathon debut, chasing a new 10K personal best or simply looking forward to enjoying the occasion, the Wolverhampton Half Marathon and 10K promise a memorable day of running. Entries remain open, but with race day fast approaching, now is the time to secure your place.

Entries are available via Stuweb here.
