The Robin Hood Half Marathon will celebrate 45 years of running in Nottingham on Sunday 27 September 2026, bringing thousands of runners to Victoria Embankment for one of the UK's longest established city centre road races. The event has grown into a major date in Nottingham's sporting calendar, combining a memorable Half Marathon route with extensive charity fundraising and a strong sense of local pride.

Starting at 9.30am, the single lap and traffic free course begins beside the River Trent before taking runners through the heart of the city. Nottingham Castle, the Robin Hood Statue and the historic Nottingham Park Estate are among the early landmarks, while the route also reaches Wollaton Park, where runners may glimpse the resident deer before beginning the journey back towards Victoria Embankment.

The course is mostly flat but includes several gentle inclines during the opening half, particularly around miles two, four and six. Those early rises reward controlled pacing, leaving runners with the opportunity to settle into a stronger rhythm later in the race. Closed roads, prominent landmarks and support across the city make the route attractive to first time Half Marathon runners as well as experienced athletes chasing a personal best.

Charity has always been central to the Robin Hood Half Marathon. Participants raised more than half a million pounds during the 2025 event, and the 2026 race features the largest charity partner programme in its history. Brain Tumour Research leads a line-up covering causes across Nottinghamshire and beyond, while a partnership with JustGiving is designed to make fundraising simpler for participants.

The Robin Hood Mini Marathon follows at 10.00am, giving families and younger runners a 1.5 mile challenge beside the River Trent. Open to entrants aged four and over, it includes chip timing, a medal and race T-shirt, while the Schools Challenge encourages children from across the region to represent their school. Children aged ten and under must run with a separately registered adult.

Whether you are preparing for your first 13.1 miles, returning to chase a faster time or fundraising for a cause close to your heart, the Robin Hood Half Marathon offers a race shaped by Nottingham's streets, green spaces and community. Its 45th year promises another landmark occasion beside the River Trent.
