Mersey Tunnel 10K

A Unique Underground Challenge

Iconic Liverpool race returns this April and there are still some places available...

The Mersey Tunnel 10K is set to return on Sunday, 13 April, once again offering runners the chance to take on one of the most unique race routes in the UK. After first being reintroduced to the Merseyside running calendar in 2006, the event continues to be a favorite, with its thrilling underground tunnel section and stunning coastal views.

The race begins near the Kingsway (Wallasey) Tunnel entrance on the Liverpool side of the River Mersey. Runners descend into the tunnel for an exciting 3K stretch beneath the river, before emerging on the Wirral side and heading onto a fast and flat 5K route along the waterfront promenade. This section offers spectacular views of the Liverpool skyline as participants make their way toward the finish line at Ian Fraser Walk in New Brighton.

The gradual climb out of the tunnel presents a challenge, but the reward is a scenic final stretch with fresh sea air and a fantastic crowd atmosphere. Along the way, runners will pass notable landmarks, including the Seacombe Ferry Terminal and the famous Perch Rock before crossing the finish line.

The Mersey Tunnel 10K remains one of the most exciting and well-loved running events in the region. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply looking for a fun and unique challenge, this race has something for everyone.
