Ilkley Half Marathon 2026

Ilkley Half Marathon Delivers More Than Just The Race

Race village adds to Ilkley atmosphere...

The Ilkley Half Marathon returns to West Yorkshire on 12 July 2026 with runners once again preparing for a challenging but scenic closed road route through the Wharfedale countryside. Organised by Ilkley Round Table, the popular event has quickly established itself as one of Yorkshire’s standout summer races while continuing to raise thousands of pounds for local causes.

The half marathon takes runners across rolling roads, sharp climbs and sweeping valley views around Ilkley and the surrounding villages, creating a course that combines proper Yorkshire scenery with a competitive race atmosphere. Alongside the main event, the Ilkley 5K also returns for 2026, giving newer runners and families the chance to be part of race day.

While the hills and scenery remain central to the event’s appeal, the growing event village has become an attraction in its own right. Last year’s race weekend brought together coffee vendors, ice cream stalls, street food and local traders, helping create a relaxed festival atmosphere around West Holmes Field before and after the races.

The event village added a lighter side to race day as runners and spectators gathered around the finish area for coffee, post race food and live entertainment while enjoying the summer atmosphere. Organisers are again expected to build on that community feel for 2026 as the race continues to grow within the Yorkshire running calendar.

For many runners, the attraction comes from the balance between challenge and atmosphere. The route delivers enough hills to feel rewarding without losing its accessibility, while the closed roads, strong marshal support and lively event village help create a welcoming experience for runners of all abilities.

Entries for both the half marathon and 5K remain open ahead of the July return, although organisers are expecting another busy year as the Ilkley Half Marathon continues to build momentum across the North of England running scene.
