Men's 10K Glasgow

Let's Hear it for the Guys

Glasgow will be welcoming thousands of men to run its streets this Father's Day...

Under 12 weeks to go until this year's Men’s 10K Glasgow makes its return to the city's sporting calendar on Father’s Day, so why not choose to join the thousands of runners who will be completing this fantastic route through Glasgow's city centre on 16 June?

On the go since 2004, the Men’s 10K Glasgow has firmly set itself as the ultimate run for men in the west. Make a positive difference to your life, or someone else’s and be part of something special - the Men's 10K continues to help thousands of guys on their journey to becoming fitter, healthier and happier.

This 10K is a fun and proactive way to engage men in Scotland in healthy physical activity and to promote health and wellbeing all year round. The brainchild of the Men’s Health Forum Scotland, the first Men’s 10K was organised as a focal point for raising awareness of men’s health issues. Consistently, each year, around 40% of the men taking part have never entered a running event before and organisers intentionally promote the event to men who are new to physical activity or have been inactive for a while.

The life expectancy of a man in Scotland is, shockingly, still the lowest in the UK. Suicide, in addition to other mental health problems, continues to be an issue of high significance to men in Scotland. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people (18-34) in Scotland and almost three out of four suicides are by men.

The Glasgow run starts off at the spectacular setting of the Riverside Transport Museum and heads along the River Clyde – taking in the city's scenic views and landmarks. Iconic buildings to look out for include the Glasgow Science Centre, The Armadillo, The SECC and the SSE Hydro and all within the first 2K. A few Clyde crossings later runners will head back towards George Square where cheering crowds await to help in one last effort to cross the finish line.

If the Glasgow date is just a little too soon then the Edinburgh event will be taking place later in the year on 22 September.
