New Running Festival For Aberdeen
A brand new running festival is planned for Aberdeen this spring...
Aberdeen's Press and Journal is behind a major new running event that it hopes will bring together runners from the north and north-east to raise money for its 275 Community Fund. The P&J Run Fest 2024 is all set to take place this spring with a date of 14 April the one for your diaries!
The biggest event the Granite City has seen since the Baker Hughes 10K, this will be the only event of its kind to be held in the city this year.
Participants of all fitness levels can sign up to run either a 10K or 5K route in Aberdeen with both races starting and finishing on P&J Live’s concourse.
This event is ideal for anyone looking to enjoy a fun day out – and make a real difference in their communities. Alongside the main races there will also be a 1K junior fun run that families – including parents with babies in prams and buggies – and enthusiastic young runners under the age of 12 will be able to participate in.
The P&J Run Fest 2024 is raising funds for five inspiring north and north-east charities; Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, Friends of Anchor, Save Bon Accord Baths, SurfABLE Scotland and Munlochy Animal Aid. All funds raised will be split equally between each of the charity partners and each will receive a minimum of £10,000.
Craig Walker, editor of The Press and Journal, said: “We’re really looking forward to The P&J Run Fest. Aberdeen has missed out not having a major 10K since the days of the Baker Hughes at the beach and The Great Aberdeen Run and we hope many people get behind us and take part.
“Our aim is to put on something that will appeal to competitive runners as well as those who see it as a bit of fun or a target as part of their aim to improve their fitness. With the children’s run there’s also something for all the family."
