The Rivington Trail Half Marathon returns on Saturday 10 October, offering experienced runners one of Lancashire's most challenging and rewarding trail races. Organised by Chorley Women FC, the event follows official pathways through the spectacular Rivington countryside, combining demanding climbs with memorable views across one of the North West's most popular outdoor destinations.

Starting and finishing at Rivington and Blackrod High School, the race is deliberately aimed at runners with previous Half Marathon experience. Organisers make it clear that this is not a beginner's event, with the technical nature of the course and sustained climbs requiring both fitness and confidence on varied terrain.

The route showcases the best of the Rivington area, taking competitors along established trails that have long been enjoyed by walkers, cyclists and trail runners. As runners tackle the course, they are rewarded with sweeping views across the surrounding Lancashire landscape, making the event as memorable for its scenery as it is for the physical challenge.

Race headquarters will open from 8.30am ahead of the 10.00am start, giving participants plenty of time to register, prepare and soak up the atmosphere before setting off. The event village will remain open until mid-afternoon, creating an opportunity for runners, supporters and volunteers to enjoy the occasion together after the finish.

With entries remaining available, experienced trail runners still have the opportunity to secure a place. For those looking beyond fast road times and towards a true off-road challenge, the Rivington Trail Half Marathon continues to offer one of Lancashire's toughest and most rewarding autumn Half Marathon experiences.

Entries are available via the runABC race hub here.
