Knutsford's Not Slow...
Is this the fastest 10K in the north west?
Give your autumn racing a boost by entering the Barclays Knutsford 10K which is set for 1 October. But be quick, organisers warn that with only six weeks to go till race day, places are 'filling up fast'.
The race was first staged in 2021 and boasts a course that is one of the flattest and fastest in the north west (only 23 metres of elevation) so if you have your sights set on a new PB or a fast time this year then this is definitely the race for you. 2022's times were certainly speedy with first male, Jay Ferns of Trafford AC storming round in 31:18 and first female, Carla Davies of Preston Harriers performing similarly well with a time of 35:09.
Race HQ is situated within the stunning grounds of the Barclays Radbroke campus. This campus is the largest technology centre for the bank in the UK, pivoted around the Grade II listed Radbroke Hall.
The course sees runners head out on the country lanes of Over Peover, Snelson and Peover Heath, before returning to Radbroke. The beautiful country lanes are all fully closed to traffic and the course is super flat with a modest incline at around 2K but then drifts downhill from 6K-8K. The rest is pancake flat!
Speaking about the race's 'green credentials' organisers say: "In a conscious effort to reduce our carbon footprint and do our bit to save the planet, we have introduced a bring your own water bottle (pre-filled) to place at the finish area for the end of the race. Completely optional, but every person who brings their own bottle of water is helping to save the planet one small step at a time."
