Kew The Run sees a record 5,500 finishers and a surprise star debut...
The fifth edition of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers Kew The Run Weekend reached new heights this year, with over 5,500 runners completing the event, among them a surprise appearance from YouTube megastar KSI, taking on his first-ever half-marathon.
Known to many as a Britain’s Got Talent judge, KSI is a multi-talented figure with successful careers in boxing and rap music, with a social media following of over 44 million. He drew cheers from the crowds as he completed the race in an impressive debut time of 1:50:02!
A total of 2,740 runners completed the Kew Gardens 10K in 1:46:00, while 3,007 finishers crossed the line in the Kew Gardens Half Marathon in 3:30:23 – making this the biggest Kew The Run in its five-year history.
Both races started and finished within the iconic setting of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, offering a unique and memorable race experience in one of London’s most celebrated locations, with free admission for runners and supporters.
In the Kew Gardens 10K, on Saturday 28th March, Jamie Ludlow (Woking AC) claimed the men’s title in 32:39 from Thomas Skentos (Woking AC, 32:41) and Seb Lawrence (Newham & Essex Beagles AC, 32:42). Katie Balme (Herne Hill Harriers) won the women’s race in 37:32. W35 Sarah Overington (South London Harriers, 38:00) and W45 Cecilia Siruffo (Guildford & Godalming AC, 39:07) completed the female podium.
Ollie Garrod (Belgrave Harriers, 1:11:16) went clear of the pack in the following day's half-marathon. He was joined on the rostrum by David Jubb (Worcester AC, 1:13:18) and Peter Jewell (Newbury AC, 1:15:11). There was a commanding five-minute margin of success for W40 Rebecca Bunting (London Heathside AC, 1:18:41) in the women's half-marathon. Katja Kostrenic (unattached, 1:23:52) and Holly Hayward (Tonbridge AC, 1:24:04) were the runners-up.
The event director, Tom Bedford, hailed the day as a landmark moment for Kew The Run. “This year’s event was truly unforgettable,” said Tom. “Welcoming record numbers is always special, but we also anticipate raising over £300,000 for a range of charities, including our Charity of the Year, WWF-UK.”
As one of only two running events to take place inside Kew Gardens, the next opportunity to run within this iconic setting will be at the Richmond RUN-FEST on 12th–13th September, 2026. Early bird entries for the 2027 Kew The Run event are now open. The race will take place on the 3rd and 4th of April 2027, and runners can sign up here.
Results are available via the runABC South race listing here (10K) and here (half marathon).
