Military Precision At Fleet Half
An army of volunteers put the Fleet Half Marathon back on the road...
The 45th Fleet Half Marathon was a resounding success on Sunday, 29th March 2026. An army of volunteers from Fleet & Crookham AC has organised this key pre-London Marathon race, almost without missing a beat, since the first race was held on Sunday, 4th April 1982 – one year after the very first London Marathon.
This year's results saw 2,501 finishers in under three hours, top-quality times at the front, and a continuation of the traditional involvement of some very fit Armed Forces personnel, who held their Inter- Services and Army Half Marathon Championships (Team and Individual) within this event.
Conditions were good as the massed ranks set off from the Calthorpe Park Race Village on Reading Road North for a gently undulating lap of the town centre and surrounding roads, crossing the M3 Motorway twice.
Thirteen men ran faster than 70 minutes and there was a terrific tussle at the front until Adam Clarke, of Aldershot Farnham & District AC, forged a winning lead to cross the finish line in 1:05:44. Chris Davies, representing the Royal Air Force, was the runner-up in 1:06:44 – one place higher than last year. Max Walker (Army AC, 1:06:46) was two seconds behind in third. The top three men are pictured above.
Chelsea Baker (Royal Navy AC, 1:13:23) took the women's race victory by 69 seconds from GB international Charlotte Purdue (Aldershot Farnham & District AC, 1:14:32) and Lucy Morrison (1:15:49). Seven women ran faster than 80 minutes, along with around 150 athletes who beat that mark of excellence on the day.
Results and previous reports are at the runABC South race listing here.
