Pushing the pace at the Trentham 10K

Trentham 10K embark on their new route to success

The course has been moved from Beech to Barlaston for traffic reasons.

Everyone’s favourite the Trentham 10K returns on Sunday 7 August and with a new course that doesn’t include the climb up to Beech Caves - a decision that’s sure to find favour with a great many runners. However, there are still a few ups and downs to test the mind and body at this eco-friendly race.

It is one of three events from Trentham RC, the other two the Dave Clark 5K and the Werrington 10K and all three are part of the NSRRA programme of races.

The Trentham 10K is known for the ascent of Beech but problems with traffic at Tittensor meant a change of plan and a subsequent move to Barlaston. It might not be as hilly as before but is sure to be an enjoyable event which is well supported by local clubs and kind to the environment.

The environment is something Trentham RC is committed to with a series of measures designed to reduce runners’ carbon footprint. These include the option to purchase a medal or not, paper cups instead of plastic, recycling bins and asking runners to car share wherever possible.

Whilst the route has changed, the organisation, support and marshals will be efficient and friendly as in previous years and there are those all-important NSRRA points to compete for. Not forgetting the prizes for the top three men and women, age groups and team categories.

Entries are open for this long established race with impressive green credentials. Sign up at the Trentham 10K website.
