A Warwickshire Classic Returns This September
The Kenilworth Half Marathon combines historic streets, rolling Warwickshire countryside and a welcoming community atmosphere...
This relates to: Kenilworth Half Marathon
The Kenilworth Half Marathon returns this September, once again bringing runners together for one of Warwickshire's best established road races. Organised by Kenilworth Runners, the event combines a scenic Half Marathon with a companion 5K, welcoming everyone from experienced club athletes to those taking on a new challenge.
Starting in the heart of Kenilworth, the route heads through the historic market town before passing the impressive Kenilworth Castle, one of England's great medieval fortresses. From there, runners venture into the rolling Warwickshire countryside on quiet roads before returning to a lively town centre finish, creating a race that balances history, scenery and sporting challenge.
The event has earned a strong reputation for its friendly organisation and community atmosphere. Local volunteers and supporters help create an encouraging environment throughout the course, while the fully closed roads allow runners to focus entirely on enjoying the experience.
Environmental responsibility also continues to shape the event. Water stations use plastic free cups and the official technical event top is available as an optional purchase, helping reduce unnecessary waste while giving runners the choice of whether they would like an additional souvenir.
Alongside the Half Marathon, the 5K provides an accessible option for newer runners, younger athletes and anyone looking to experience race day in Kenilworth over a shorter distance. Together, the two races make the event a celebration of running that appeals to a wide range of abilities.
For many runners, the attraction lies in the combination of heritage and countryside. Few races offer the opportunity to run beneath the shadow of a Norman castle before heading out across picturesque Warwickshire roads and returning to a warm welcome in the town centre.
Whether the goal is a personal best, a first Half Marathon or simply enjoying one of the Midlands' most popular autumn races, the Kenilworth Half Marathon continues to deliver a memorable day built on strong local support, careful organisation and a route that showcases the very best of the area.
