Event of the Week

Up and over at the Elmstone Chase off-road race

Elmton Chase back in the race

A week to go until this annual off-road run.

Entries close this Friday (17 June) for the Elmton Chase, a picturesque and undulating race limited to 200 places. This is a local race around the village of Elmton which starts and finishes at a pub which is rather pleasant way to spend a summer’s evening.

The Elmton Chase is one of two races from Clowne Road Runners, the other a half marathon. At just under 5 miles it is ideal for any runner wanting a midweek race and at a distance which they can complete on a school night and still be able to get up for work the following day (pub finish excepted). It starts at 7.30pm from the Elm Tree pub which is also the location for the finish.

Participants head off from the pub along a figure of 8 route which is signed and marshalled on a mix of fields, footpaths, countryside tracks and some road and includes a hill in the final 2K. All of which will work up a thirst. There is water available at the end and the option to have something stronger in the Elm Tree.

There are cash prizes for the first male and female and wine for age category winners. Cake for all – always a vote winner!

This small but perfectly formed race is taking entries on the day on a ‘first come first served’ basis to guarantee a full field. Entries will close as soon as the 200 places have been sold.

Give your legs a shake out after work at this friendly and relaxed off-roader followed by a drink and cake whilst sat outside in the sunshine (fingers crossed!).

This race sounds too good to miss. Enter the Elmton Chase at the Clowne Road Runners website.
