On their way to the finish at the Great Grimsby 10K

On The Go At Grimsby

It was a PB-hunter’s dream at this fast and flat 10K in North East Lincolnshire...

A super quick course, lots of support and bags of energy at Sunday’s (4 June) Great Grimsby 10K as runners turned up the heat in pursuit of their goals.

Humber Taiko Drummers were a hit with the runners, beating out a rhythm from the bandstand as they headed for the finish. They were one of several bands providing entertainment and encouragement to participants at the 8th Ørsted Great Grimsby 10K from Tape2Tape Events and their efforts helped many power on to the end in this friendly, inclusive race.

Everyone irrespective of age, experience or ability was welcome to take part in the 10K and the Care Plus 1K Family Fun Run. This was an event where people came together to enjoy the day whilst supporting local charities and community groups who benefit from their generosity.

More than 2,000 runners waited outside Grimsby Town Hall, eager to push themselves on the rapid route around the town. There was the opportunity to go ‘eyeballs out’ on the Equans Mad Mile section (between mile 4 and 5) of the course and win some prizes.

Speedy running from Tom Straw of Lincoln Wellington AC led to him winning the 2023 Ørsted Great Grimsby 10K in 30:35. Another Tom made the podium, this time Tom Adams of Ilkley Harriers AC who took second place in 31:09. Rob Scott of Richmond & Zetland Harriers was close behind, finishing third in 31:19.

An equally strong performance from Tamsin Boynton of East Hull Harriers & AC saw her become the women’s winner in 35:56. Julie Briscoe was second lady in 36:56 and City of Hull AC’s Amy Hammersley third lady in 37:21.

All the results are available via the runABC Race Listing page.

Entries have opened for the 2024 Ørsted Great Grimsby 10K via the Tape2Tape Events website.
