Salcey promises a Trail Run to remember
Lap up the scenery in a beautiful medieval hunting forest in Northamptonshire.
Entries close this Saturday evening (14 January) for the Salcey Trail Run and Canicross which takes place on Sunday 15 January. Run on your own or with your dog over your chosen distance in a delightful location and support Forestry England.
The event is organised by Active Training World (ATW) in Salcey Forest, Northamptonshire – one of several Forestry England venues which are popular visitor attractions. A percentage of every entry fee will help to maintain their facilities such as visitor centres and bike trails.
There are four entry options: 7K trail run, 7K canicross run, 14K trail run and a half marathon. Runners complete one lap for 7K, two laps for 14K and three laps for the half marathon on a mainly flat and sheltered route consisting of hard packed trails and some grass – probably mud too if this rain continues! Think carefully about shoe choice and go for something with plenty of grip.
Mud aside, participants will be fortunate enough to explore woodland containing ancient trees which include oaks more than 600 years old!
Canicross athletes go first at 9.30am followed by the rest of the field at 9.45am. There's a water station at the end of the first lap and more water available at the end for the benefit of human and canine finishers.
Also at end is a bespoke themed medal along with snacks.
The ATW website has more information for trail runners and canicross in the form of downloadable PDF’s. If you are debating whether to enter, you can still sign up now at the ATW website.
