Running in the rhythm of the light

Gato Sports Head Torch 10K in the spotlight again

Canicross welcomed back to the second race in the series.

Running at night is a challenge in itself so why not do it in the company of others at the Gold Award winning Gato Sports Head Torch 10K – Race 2 (Thursday 19 January). Join two and four legged runners at Salcey Forest for an after dark run to remember.

Something a little bit different; the Gato Sports Head Torch 10K is a three race series from Big Bear Events where participants run a two lap course through the woods on a midweek evening. They start at 7pm which allows enough time to get there after work.

Race 1 was held on Wednesday 23 November 2022. Race 2 takes place on Thursday 19 January 2023 with Race 3 on 7 March 2023. The series has become popular with runners as reviews have shown and the organisers hope they’ll be a success again this year.

They’re well organised and well marshalled and most importantly, friendly events designed for runners of all abilities. This includes man’s best friend. Dogs have to be illuminated along with their owners and start a few minutes ahead of the rest of the field. More information can be found on the Canicross Rules page at the Big Bear Events website.

The course is fully marked and flat consisting of light trails around the forest which is particularly atmospheric in the moonlight. If there's rain it can become muddy and slippery in places due to wet leaves but is otherwise ok underfoot.

There will be a medal, goodies and hearty congratulations for every finisher (including dogs) and you'll enjoy some post-race refreshment in the cafe afterwards.

Enter now at the Big Bear Events website and don’t forget to charge your head torch!
