Run on in, the water's lovely at the Riverbank Rollick

Let’s get ready to Rollick!

Only three days to go to the favourite off-road (and muddy!) January run.

This weekend is the sold out Riverbank Rollick (Sunday 15 January) with 9.6 miles of fields, trails, bridle paths, woodland and a stream thrown in for good neasure. Leave the pristine white trainers at home for this one and prepare to get down and dirty with fellow mud aficionados.

The Riverbank Rollick is part of Thornbury Running Club’s 2023 Race Series along with the Thornbury 10K and the Oldbury 10 Mile with a prize for the male and female runner who achieves the cumulative fastest time across the three races.

Castle School Sports Hall on Park Road, Thornbury is the Race HQ with the start 10 to 15 minutes away, allowing enough time for a warm up before the fun begins at 10.30am.

Fancy dress is a feature of this race and runners are welcome to participate in an outfit of their choosing. They won’t be alone in this as quite a few marshals join in which makes for an eye-catching sight and Mr Blobby always makes an appearance!

It wouldn’t be the Rollick without the riverbank and the chance to get your feet wet (and wash off the mud!) Save enough in the tank for a sprint across the playing fields and on to the finish.

Everyone’s hard work will be rewarded with an attractive wooden medal and there are changing rooms, showers and refreshments in the School Sports Hall.

The Met Office forecast is for light rain showers and a moderate breeze this coming Sunday but there is plenty of rain before then so expect plenty of mud and don’t forget a change of clothes.
