Free ‘virtual’ races with a feel-good factor

It is hard to stay focused on running as we grapple with the lockdown, ever-present threat of coronavirus and the lack of certainty. Tape2Tape Events understand these concerns and have created a series of free, virtual ‘races’ for runners to focus on and feel better from.

For many people, running is their way of dealing with stress and anxiety – both of which are at very high levels due to the ongoing crisis. Races have been cancelled or postponed until next year leaving runners in limbo and needing a goal or target to keep them motivated. For some it is critical for their mental health and wellbeing.

Tape2Tape Events understand these concerns and in co-operation with Results Base have created four virtual races – 1 Mile, 5K, 5 Miles and 10K that are free and fun to do. This is also a ‘thank you’ to runners for their support over the years and as a way of coping during this crisis. No medal or T-shirt but there are spot prizes to be won.

These races were launched on 24 March and continue until midnight Sunday 12 April pending the government’s review of official guidelines around exercising outside once a day. If this remains unchanged people will be given the opportunity to enter again for May.

Runners have the choice of entering as many races as they wish followed by uploading their finish times and accompanying photos. They can run their chosen distance more than once, updating their times if they have been quicker and as often as they want. Then see how others did on the leaderboard.

There is still time to enter. Visit the Tape2Tape Events website for details
