Aiming To Be The Wold's Best!
Easingwold 10K is back after a promising inaugural event last year...
After a successful launch event in 2025, the Easingwold Community 10K and Family Fun Day is back on Sunday, 26th July 2026, starting at 10:00am. The Easingwold 10K is promoted by Easingwold Running Club, celebrating their club's 30th birthday with pies and peas at The Galtres Centre next month!
The inaugural race was contested by 438 runners, who completed the gently undulating triangular-shaped course from the Market Square in 1:38:32, with Dom Carter (York Postal Harriers, 33:04) – pictured wearing bib #87 above – and W40 Charlotte Sanderson (Thirsk & Sowerby Harriers, 40:13) setting a hot pace at the front of the pack.
The pretty North Yorkshire market town of Easingwold is believed to have been named in Anglo-Saxon times, with 'wold' meaning forest and 'Esa' a Saxon family name. The Royal Forest of Galtres once surrounded the area, and King John had a hunting lodge there.
The Market Square has been a merchants' trading place since 1221, and it is an important hub for many events. The Royal Forest of Galtres' name is preserved by The Galtres Centre, which provides the Race HQ, as well as facilities for numerous sports, and is just 200m from the start.
Race Director, Colin Fletcher, describes the route thus: "The course can be described as undulating but certainly not hilly. The first half has more up than down, and the second half more down than up – perfect for motivation and PBs."
The Millfield parkrun and Millfield Junior parkrun take place nearby on the Millfield green space, so why not make a weekend of it and combine both events? With the 10:00am start time for the Easingwold 10K, there is time for the youngsters to let off some steam in the junior parkrun before the race starts.
The Market Place provides the venue for a Family Fun Day after the Easingwold 10K. Activities planned include a bouncy castle, crazy golf, skittles, giant Connect 4 and Jenga. There are also numerous cafes and pubs for post-race refreshments and to celebrate your achievement.
