Quirky Easter Choc Run Hits The Sweet Spot
Sweet tooth runners indulged themselves at this fun event involving everyone’s favourite confectionary
Keep calm and run for chocolate was the mantra at Sunday’s (2 April) tasty event to get people in the mood for next weekend’s Easter festivities. Laps and choc were consumed in equal measure at this quirky offering.
The Easter Chocolate Run was organised by Quirky Races who like to stage events “with a difference” and the more unusual the better. They’ve had a food theme before with their Christmas Mince Pie Run where participants eat a mince pie every kilometre. The aim was 5 mince pies for a 5K.
With Easter fast approaching, thoughts turn to chocolate and something similar to the Christmas run; participants of all ages and abilities complete as many 0.5 Mile laps as they wish in an hour and eat a chocolate after each one. There was a bespoke Easter medal for every finisher irrespective of how many laps they ran and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny.
Michelle Lewis of Step Forward with Lewis once again held a warm up at 11.45am to loosen up those muscles before the start at 12 noon. Choc lovers young and old sped away around the playing fields at the Obelisk Centre in Northamptonshire, ticking off the laps in the spring sunshine. Grabbing a chocolate at the end of each lap for a quick energy burst as time went on and the 1pm deadline drew near.
There were plenty of smiles and acrobatic jumps at the end for the camera. Medals presented to the finishers and free photos too. All of which went down a treat!
Bring on Easter...
