Montane Cheviot Challenge

Challenge Yourself In The Cheviots

If you're an ultra-runner looking for your next big challenge, we may have it for you here...

For those who like to truly test themselves, we bring news of a 'hard winter race' for which you will have to prepare physically and mentally for the big day. Have we put you off yet? For those still reading, the Montane Cheviot Goat Winter Ultra Run is a challenge. Possibly the challenge of a lifetime, but as organisers say: "If you complete it, it will also be the experience of a lifetime." Ā

Taking place on 3 December, Cold Brew Events have teamed up with MONTANEĀ® to bring ultra runners this 55-mile winter challenge. It should be noted that this event really is only for those with ultra-running experience and with the knowledge to deal with winter conditions as it is a firm test of abilities with both mind and body placed under stress in an unforgiving environment.

Supported by the event team runners will traverse a loop of the largest hills in the Borders region. This is a time when most livestock are brought off the tops and only the hardy feral Cheviot goat is left to fend for itself - hence the name of the race.

This route will take runners out into one of the last wild places in England where the population count per square mile is the lowest to be had. High up in the fells participants will need to battle their inner self as they cross peat covered hills, descend grassy banks and chug along the mighty border ridge with Scotland on one side and England on the other.

As a nice extra, all those signing up will receive a discount code that offers a 20% off any purchases made online at Montane. It is also worth noting that Cold Brew Events will be making a donation from each entry fee to benefit the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team. On signing up, entrants will also have the chance to pledge an additional donation towards this great charity and the vital support that their volunteers provide.
