Take On The Beast
Challenging routes, festive cheer and the breathtaking Hope Valley as a backdrop make this an event not to miss...
The Beast of Bamford Fell Race is back by popular demand this autumn, promising a challenging and scenic adventure through the heart of the Peak District. Taking place on 15 November, the race will once again start and finish at Bamford Recreation Ground and will raise funds to support this community space.
Now in its second year, the Beast of Bamford has already become a firm favourite with runners. The race follows a unique bat-shaped 15K route, taking runners on an anticlockwise tour of the stunning Hope Valley skyline that surrounds the village of Bamford.
Organisers say: "Participants can look forward to spectacular views and some tough climbs as they tackle sections across Bamford Moor, along Bamford Edge, past the iconic Ladybower plugholes and up and over Win Hill before descending back to the Recreation Ground."
With around 660 metres of ascent, the course offers a mix of runnable trails, moorland paths and technical descents, making it a perfect test for trail and fell runners looking for a challenge. The finish line atmosphere will be extra special this year, as it coincides with the Bamford Christmas Market, giving runners the chance to refuel and celebrate with festive treats and local produce once they cross the line.
For those seeking an even bigger test, organisers have announced a new extended option for 2025: the Beastier of Bamford Fell Race. This tougher 23K route features a grittier mix of climbs and descents, covering an impressive 1,050 metres of elevation gain.
