4,200 get a result at Fulham in adidas City Run Series
The 2018 adidas City Run Series concluded on Sunday (18 November) with 4,200 runners heading for the Event Village at Eel Brook Common for the Fulham 10K. Each competitor wore the free technical T-shirt with personalised race number, so the event had a rather different look and feel to a typical 10K road race.
The course is billed as 'London's flattest closed-road 10K route' and starts on iconic New Kings Road. After passing through picturesque Parsons Green and bustling Fulham Road and looping around world famous Stamford Bridge stadium, home of Chelsea FC, runners headed back to collect their City Run medals and enjoy free post-race massage and yoga.
Free race photos and pre-race training sessions delivered by adidas Runners were also part of the adidas City Run Series package enjoyed by record numbers of competitors over the four events held this year: City Run 1 Hour on 17 June; Clapham 10K on 16 September; Shoreditch 10K on 14 October and Fulham 10K on 18 November. Competitors who took part in all four races receive an exclusive 2018 Series gold medal.
The concluding race in the series was won by Markhim Lonsdale (32:22) from Grzegorz Opial (32:26) and Adam Young (32:29) as 179 men broke 40 minutes on the PB littered course. Nicola Doody (37:55), Jackie Skinner (38:13) and Alice Whiley (38:16) blazed the trail for the women as 268 ladies went inside 50 minutes.
Encouraged by the music and cheer zones on the course Harriet Turnbull, Abby Whitwam and Jonathan Shaw shared exactly 60 minutes of race action together, finishing 3,155th to 3,157th respectively.
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity was the charity partner and if you want to play an active part in adidas City Run you can pre-register for details at the event website now
