It’s go go go for Linlithgow

Relaxation of restrictions starts to bring medium sized races back to the race calendar

Less than 24 hours after it opened to entries, just over 100 places remain available for the 2021 Linlithgow 10k road race.

Organised by Linlithgow Athletic Club, the 28th edition of the popular community event will be held on Sunday, 26 September. Traditionally, around 40% of the event’s participants come from the local area.

The race will start at the Cross on Linlithgow High Street and finish in the historic Linlithgow Palace Peel area. A junior fun run, for which entries will be opened shortly, will also be held.

Organisers have asked runners to be aware that for logistical reasons there will be strict time limit of 1 hour and 40 minutes for the 10k, after which the course and finish area will be taken down.

To help runners make their way round the ‘undulating’ and ‘quite challenging’ route in good time, organisers will be offering the services of pacers, with target finish times ranging from 40 to 65 minutes.

Given current guidance, only the first 500 entries to the 10k will be accepted, with organisers hoping to increase the field to 800, pending changes to restrictions. (update August 21' - Organisers did increase to 800 but all but 70 spaces now sold. Plenty of spaces available for 8 - 15 year olds in the fun run).

Entries will close at 23:00 on 19 September 2021 or when the field is full. Once full, a waiting list, which will close at the same day and time as general entries, will come into operation. Should the event be cancelled due to Covid-19, runners will be offered a full refund, less admin costs.

Funds raised at the not-for-profit event support the work Linlithgow Athletic Club does in promoting and providing opportunities for athletics in their local community.
