We Could Be Heroes

To celebrate their dedicated service and work on the COVID frontline the We Love OUR NHS Manchester 10K will be held in Manchester’s Heaton Park on 4 July.

These days the term hero is used with some regularity and if we’re honest, often unnecessarily! But no-one can deny that NHS workers have been the definition of heroic over the past year. To celebrate their dedicated service and work on the COVID frontline the We Love OUR NHS Manchester 10K will be held in Manchester’s Heaton Park on 4 July this year.

Brought to you by The Running Bee Foundation, the event starts and finishes in Manchester’s famous Heaton Park which offers a scenic route, with a friendly atmosphere where hundreds of supporters will cheer as you run through the park’s beautiful, but challenging landscape. The new venue offers a fun day out for all the family, with plenty of open space to watch the race and support loved ones!

Runners of all abilities are welcome to take part, the 10k distance is a perfect step up for those who have been ‘couch to 5king’ during lockdown and is also a fantastic test of speed for those more experienced runners. By joining in the fun you will be raising money for Manchester Foundation Trust Charity which has been chosen by The Running Bee Foundation as their headline charity for the event.

The charity is responsible for all NHS hospitals throughout the Manchester area, including Manchester Royal Infirmary and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Money raised by fundraising will help provide support to make a difficult time easier for patients during when seeking diagnosis or accessing treatment.

Taking part will not just raise your spirits with the sense of altruism that fundraising brings, participants will be pleased to hear that there are goodies on offer too! All finishers receive a commemorative We Love OUR NHS Manchester 10K run medal and branded technical t-shirt, and there will be an athlete village with entertainment to keep runners and their guests entertained. You can also enjoy a post-race massage with the service provided by official physiotherapy partner, Harris & Ross.

So go on, be a hero yourself! Take on the 10K on 4 July to show support for the heroes of the NHS and give something back to those who have worked hard to keep our communities safe during the COVID 19 pandemic.
