Wolverhampton Half Marathon and 10K 2022

Wolverhampton Half And 10K is Finally Back

Return of a real Black Country favourite this September

After a two year hiatus caused by ‘you know what’ runners in the Black Country can finally look forward to a local favourite as Wolverhampton Half Marathon and 10K is set for a return on its traditional date of the first Sunday in September (4 September).

Always a huge favourite among local runners and local clubs, organisers are expecting a strong turnout from the likes of Tipton Harriers, Wolverhampton and Bilston AC and Telford Harriers but there’s also a huge community flavour to the event which is a joint collaboration between Stuweb and City of Wolverhampton Council.

The route will mirror that of the 2019 event (ahead of an entirely new route for 2023) and organisers are hoping to be operating on fully closed roads although there are a few last minute details to be sorted before that can be fully confirmed. Both the Half Marathon and 10K will start at West Park at 9 a.m. and West Park will also host the finish line.

West Park, which was also the start and finish of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games cycling time trial, is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of unspoilt Victorian parkland in England. The park which opened in 1881 will provide a stunning backdrop to this year's Half Marathon and 10K. Other noteable landmarks on the route will include the Molineaux and Aldersley Leisure Village.

The 2019 winners of what is now becoming a well established Black Country favourite were Robert Meredith, Dudley & Stourbridge (34.07) and Lucy Calrow, Wolverhampton and Bilston (40.50) in the 10K and Jack Pickett, Wolverhampton and Bilston (1.11.00) and Claire Hotchkiss, Tipton Harriers (1.32.57) in the Half Marathon.

Entries for the 2022 event are selling briskly but you can still enter now for what's sure to be a fantastic day out in Wolverhampton.
