Have A Bash This Winter
This winter trail run allows runners to self-navigate around the beautiful Derbyshire trails...
If you've had a go at Derbyshire's Brooksie's Bash in the summer and fancy the challenge under winter conditions, then you're in luck as race organisers Peak Running can offer just that!
The Winter Bash will take place on 4 February and is as equally as popular as its summer counterpart, mainly due to the organisation, friendliness and supportive environment. This is a ‘come and give it a try’ event for the novice trail runner with the opportunity to self-navigate from start to finish.
Runners will enjoy 10 miles of picturesque trails around South Derbyshire but, as well as going in the opposite direction (clockwise) to Brooksie's, there will be the added challenge of runners navigating their own way around the course, which will be un-marked.
Whilst the organisers encourage people to go off-road, they emphasise the importance of being prepared for the time of year. The weather can change in a short space of time and you should have the right clothing and equipment to deal with that.
Stuart Laurie of Kimberley & District Striders was the first man home in the 2023 event in 1:08:50. It was a good one two for South Derbyshire Road Runners women with Jenny Laing the winner in 1:15:29 with a new course record while teammate Christina Hawtin was second in 1:22:20.
