Ready For A Royal Battle
Numbers are going fast for the Windsor Running Festival...
The good folk at the Windsor Running Festival have told runABC South that the final few numbers are going fast for the 41st weekend, featuring the iconic Windsor Women's 10K on Saturday 27 September and the majestic Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 28 September 2025.
Last year, a magnificent 4,630 runners finished across both races on the Long Walk, held within the beautiful setting of Windsor Great Park, with Windsor Castle as the stunning backdrop.
The 2024 Windsor Women's 10K race witnessed the first win by a blind athlete. Rachael Elliott (W45 Newbury AC, 38:43) – profiled here in runABC South – secured the victory, supported by her male guide runner Neal Jeffs (Road Runners Club), the only man allowed in the race!
The following day, the Windsor Half Marathon took centre stage with 3,602 finishers in four and a half hours. Jonathan Escalante-Phillips (Cambridge & Coleridge AC, 1:06:00) and W45 Lesley Locks (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC, 1:24:31) were the overall winners.
The unique vibe of the Windsor Women's 10K can be appreciated in this short video...
The Windsor Women's 10K course starts and finishes on the impressive Long Walk, passing the Copper Horse statue, the Royal Lodge and the Jubilee Statue before the fast, downhill finish towards the imposing royal residence.
Windsor Half Marathon ventures further into Windsor Great Park, the only Royal Park managed by The Crown Estate, once part of a vast Norman hunting forest enclosed in the late thirteenth century. The second lap of the half-marathon takes runners through a private road not normally open to the public.
For historic sites, a touch of Royal spirit, and a hugely supportive community atmosphere, no other races are quite like these two in the runABC South area.
Results and reports are at the runABC South race listing here (10K) and here (half marathon).
