Big News For Littlehampton
Phoenix rises to the challenge at the RUN-FEST Littlehampton 10K...
The Littlehampton 10K was formerly known as the Chestnut Tree House 10K (image above) but has since been drawn into the orbit of the RUN-FEST event management team from the latest event held on Sunday, 31 August 2025 – the last day of meteorological summer.
Taking full advantage of the continued warm weather were almost 1,200 runners, an increase of a third over last year's race and back in line with numbers last seen in 2019. The RUN-FEST magic paid dividends with the event that remains a major fundraiser for the local children's hospice, Chestnut Tree House, where children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families get all the care and support they need.
RUN-FEST touches included free finisher's photos, a superb triangular medal (image below), a well-stocked goody bag with post-race refreshments, a clearly-marked closed-road route, and experienced pacemakers from 40-70 minutes laying PBs on a plate for those who were chasing times.
The Littlehampton 10K course starts and finishes beside East Beach (near the Littlehampton parkrun start), close to Littlehampton Beacon. Sea Road features heavily in an out-and-back section before a circuit of Caffyn's Field, round the lake at Mewsbrook Park, a loop around Rustington, and a final dash down Sea Lane and Sea Road to the finish.
After duelling for 10 kilometres, Brighton Phoenix athletes Rueben Hoyte (31:32) and Simon Heath (31:34) were separated by just two seconds. Third place was claimed by another Brighton Phoenix runner, Daegan Beaumont (32:48), trimming 10 seconds from his previous best.
The women's race was won by Laura Smith (Brighton Phoenix, 37:35) from Abigail Clark (Tuff Fitty Tri Club, 41:20) and Jessica Goodrich (unattached, 41:36).
The Littlehampton programme includes a Family Mile Fun Run won by Riley Ayre (6:14) and Ella Dennehy (7:20).
The next RUN-FEST promotions are the original and fully subscribed Richmond RUN-FEST on Sunday, 14 September 2025, the Kew Gardens 10K on Saturday, 28 March, and the Kew Gardens Half Marathon on Sunday, 29 March 2026. Click here for all RUN-FEST race info...
