Trentham's 10K Test
It was a day of fast times and lots of fun at this year's Trentham 10K...
The Trentham 10K was back at the weekend (6 August) with its 'new' course once again meaning that runners didn't have the climb up to Beech Caves to contend with! That said, there were still a few ups and downs to test runners in both body and mind at this perennially popular event.
Speaking about the change of route which was implemented last year, organisers said: "TRC took the decision to move our course to Barlaston to cement the future of this historic race! Whilst we know some will be sad to see the back of the climb up through Beech, I’m sure you’ll agree there’s enough undulation to keep this a challenging and enjoyable race!"
The race may not be as hilly as before but it is still an incredibly enjoyable event which was once again well supported by local clubs. This year's race was won by Carl Moulton of Boalloy RC in a time of 33:44 while second place went to Rugeley Runner Jonathan Read in 34:06 and third place was claimed by Ashley Maughan, also of Boalloy in 34:23.
In the women's race, Isabella Shaw of Trentham RC was the winner in 39:23 while second place went to Amanda Kelly of City Of Stoke AC in 40:54 and third was Joanne Stanfield in a time of 42:15.
All the results are available via the runABC Midlands Race Listings page.
The event is one of three races from Trentham RC, the other two the Dave Clark 5K and the Werrington 10K and all three are part of the NSRRA programme of races.
