On Top of the Wolds

This 10K challenge is going to make you feel on top form...

A stunning East Yorkshire race features on the summer race calendar with the Top of the Wolds 10K Challenge set to welcome runners on 2 June this year.

The multi terrain race is based in the village of Warter, close to Pocklington which is best noted for its much photographed row of thatched cottages, thatch being a most unusual roof covering on the Wolds.

Organised by Yorkshire Wolds Runners a spokesperson said: "We have used the nearby Yorkshire Wolds Way, National Trail as the inspiration for this race route. Using the Nunburnholme Wold landscape, as a stunning backdrop, to this undulating 10K multi terrain race."

The rural setting makes this a great event whether it’s your first time or you are a seasoned runner. Run on closed roads, with chip timing, good marshalling, water station and kilometre markers along the route, you will have everything you need to have a great running experience.

The race route takes runners along a scenic backwater lane, towards the village of Nunburnholme, which itself is part of the Yorkshire Wolds Way. Here runners will take a left turn to climb Nunburnholme Hill where they will enjoy the fruits of their labour at the summit, with the spectacular and far-reaching views.

Participants can enjoy a well-earned drink at the half way stage, before leaving the road and hitting the Bridleway trail, descending through the Woodland section. Finally, as they emerge into the sunlight (it’s June, fingers crossed) they will take a right turn and return to Warter village and the finish line.
